Mercy Neighborhood Ministries’ Capital Campaign is raising
$8 million to renovate a once-deteriorated warehouse into a beautiful
and dynamic community center—Mercy Family Center. The 33,000-square-foot
building, which it owns, will enable the ministry to house all of
its programs under one roof and will be fully handicapped accessible.

Mercy Family Center: Transforming Lives,
One Person at a
Time
Mercy Family Center will enable Mercy Neighborhood Ministries to
expand its educational and care services to meet the growing critical
needs of the community. The ministry is the only social service provider
in Tioga—a section of North Philadelphia that has been increasingly
neglected for decades—and the demands for its services has
increased significantly. When Mercy Family Center opens it doors,
the capacity for each program will increase considerably.
"I've known Sister Ann for most of
my adult life and anywhere she places her focus it's a success.
It must be because her focus is always helping others less fortunate
than us. It's my honor to help with this great cause." -
Pat Croce, Honorary Member, Mercy Family Center Steering Committee www.patcroce.com

Give the Gift
of Mercy this Holiday Season
Mercy Family Center will help us:
- Increase the capacity of licensed childcare programs,
in Tioga, from 42 children to 80 children.
- Help the programs
become self-sustaining.
- Increase the capacity of the adult day
care program from 30 to 60 adults.
- Reduce the annual cost of utilities
by about 25 percent by building “green.”
- Provide
a permanent home for Mercy Neighborhood Ministries.
- Improve
the economic stability of the neighborhood.
- Enhance the academic
achievements of children.
A unique facility, Mercy Family Center, located at 1939 W. Venango
Street, will follow the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
(LEED) protocols of the U.S. Green
Building Council to become the
first “green” building in North Philadelphia. “Green” buildings:
- Have less impact on the environment.
- Save natural resources.
- Utilize natural lighting.
- Recycle building and construction waste,
where possible.
- Take advantage of highly efficient HVAC systems.
- Can provide health
benefits for people with asthma and other chronic breathing problems.
